Jim Strong's (sr) Accommodation Bill 1938-39

by Jim Strong (jr)

In November of 1938 the British Air Ministry operation was transferred to The Newfoundland Airport and the staff lived in the first permanent housing at that site called The Administration Building- the building in the society's logo. My Dad was a wireless operator and he was in that group. The staff who moved included the wireless staff and the met staff.

Attached is a January 1939 bill for my Dad's stay there as well as note for his cigarette account for December 1938.

I have also included his April 1939 bill because the signature of the accountant is that of G. Flynn. I believe that to be Gerry Flynn and he eventually became part of the DOT accounting staff in Gander.
